The Children’s Centre (TCC) works in partnership with the school to enhance early identification and intervention services for their students. TCC will provide Sensory Functioning screening and sensory groups led by qualified occupational therapists.
The school-based sensory circuit group helps work with student’s sensory systems to get them ready for the school day. It helps to address some of the challenges students faced in the classroom:
Roles and Responsibilities of TCC and the school
The school will provide the space for weekly sensory groups. School staff will assist set up before, during and after the groups with general equipment (e.g. mats, cones, benches). The school will gain parent permission and inform them of the purpose of the intervention.
TCC is the provider of early screening services for sensory concerns and of weekly sensory groups to the school on the school premises. From time to time, TCC will provide additional services to the school (e.g. parent workshop) per further agreement between TCC and the school.
Services to be provided by TCC
TCC will provide:
-Occupational therapy screening for students referred by the school;
-Weekly 1-hour group sensory circuit sessions for up to 6-8 students each term per the school’s calendar (at the school’s discretion);
-Additional services upon agreement between TCC and the school.
