Social Explorers
(Social Skills Programme)

When children play together, they develop friendships through discovering their common interests, sharing ideas and solving problems together. These aspects of social-emotional development are essential for peer relationships.

Our social Explorer programme uses semi-structured play-based activities to provide opportunities for your child to play, practise and master social skills. At TCC, we use DIR®Floortime strategies to foster your child’s capacity to create meaningful relationships with others. We use your child’s interests and introduce new experiences to help your child understand and manage their own emotions and behaviour. We also help them develop imaginative and creative thinking in play, and problem-solve with others.

The programme will address and develop a range of social skills including:

  • – Engage in back-and-forth play and interactions with others
  •
  • – Initiate and respond to others, e.g. requesting, rejecting and problem-solving
  •
  • – The awareness, identification, expression, and regulation of their emotions
  •
  • – Play skills
  •
  • – Peer awareness and interaction
  •
  • – Turn-taking and sharing
  •
  • – Listening to others
  •
  • – Conflict resolution
  •
  • – Build and maintain positive friendships
