Our DIR Full-Day Programme for Children with Unique Learning Needs (Mongkok East)
We are excited to announce the launch of our DIR full-day school programme, specially designed for children with unique learning needs, starting in February 2025. Conveniently located just a 5-minute walk from Mongkok East MTR station, our programme offers a holistic, individualised approach that respects each child’s unique learning profile.
Who Is This Programme For?
Our DIR programme is tailored for children aged 5 to 12 years who seek an alternative to traditional medical or behavioral approaches. It’s particularly beneficial for families awaiting school placements, providing a nurturing environment that fosters emotional, social, and developmental growth.
At TCC, we believe every child has the right to learn in a way that suits them best. Recognising that there is no one-size-fits-all method, we focus on each child’s individual profile to determine their unique learning style. Our programme enhances Functional Emotional Developmental Capacities (FEDCs) through the DIR model, creating enriching experiences where children can engage meaningfully and acquire essential skills.
We emphasise that our programme prioritises the journey of learning over outcomes. By developing foundational skills, we aim to bridge gaps and strengthen each child’s self-esteem. Our commitment is to support every child’s unique profile, ensuring they can access learning in a way that resonates with them.
Our carefully crafted activities strengthen sensory-affect-motor development, as we believe all learning is rooted in emotional experiences. Key focus areas include:
Assessment of Children’s Development and Progress
To ensure that each child’s development aligns with the DIR models, we implement a comprehensive assessment strategy:
Ongoing Observations : Regular observations during activities help assess children’s emotional, social, and cognitive development.
Progress Monitoring : Each child’s progress is tracked against their IEP goals, with regular reviews to ensure objectives remain relevant.
Developmental Checklists : Use of checklists specific to the DIR models evaluates skills in emotional regulation, communication, social interaction, and sensory processing.
Collaborative Feedback : Involvement of parents and therapists in the assessment process to gather insights about the child’s development at home and in other settings.
Standardised Assessments : Where appropriate, standardised assessments are used to evaluate each child’s progress.

LITTLE EXPLORERS (AGES 3-5)
In our Little Explorers class, we focus on helping children develop their ability to connect and engage with others. We celebrate the use of ideas and meaningful language, while integrating body functions. Through exploration of the world and learning to problem-solve with their bodies, children enhance their social-emotional development.
ADVENTUROUS LEARNERS (AGES 6-8)
The Adventurous Learners class fosters social connections as children articulate their thoughts and understand both verbal and non-verbal communication. Through interaction with peers, they enhance their cognitive and problem-solving skills. They learn to evaluate information, identify problems, andcreate solutions—essential for academic success.
CREATIVE THINKERS (AGES 9-12)
In the Creative Thinkers class, we encourage children to expand their ideas and solve problems effectively, which positively impacts their academic performance. This class fosters collaboration and creativity, promoting deeper engagement with learning concepts and enhancing their ability to navigate social dynamics.
